"Working Together Towards Health"

Called the "Miracle on Main Street" by the Frederick News Post, Emmitsburg Osteopathic Primary Care Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to providing medical education and patient-centered osteopathic healthcare. EOPCC was brought into existence as a corporation under the guidance of Rosemary McDermott, attorney-at-law, on June 19, 1999. Our doors were opened for the first time on September 2, 1999. EOPCC received 501(c)(3) tax exempt status on February 23, 2000 through the teamwork of Rosemary McDermott, Catherine Ditman, CPA and Dr. Bonita Portier, D.O..

EOPCC operates a medical center in the heart of Emmitsburg, Maryland, where the organization provides primary care services for more than 1,500 residents of northern Frederick County, Maryland and southern Adams County, Pennsylvania.  In addition, EOPCC's medical center serves as a hub for medical services in the community by renting space to other healthcare providers.

EOPCC places special emphasis on providing quality care for the working poor of our community, and ensuring that they have access to the care they need to continue to be productive members of the community.  EOPCC provides more than $100,000 in free medicines to its uninsured and underinsured patients each year and offers free office visits to the uninsured.  These free visits make up nearly 10% of all EOPCC's office visits.  EOPCC's medical center is also a training site for medical students, nursing students, and pre-med college students.
